He has directed hundreds of in-depth licensing opportunity and valuation assessments during his career at Defined Health, Cello Health BioConsulting, and Lumanity, helping pharma and biotech companies from start-up to top-ten Pharma make key decisions across the spectrum from indication prioritization to full commercial valuations.
His scientific background spans medical microbiology, virology, prion biology, and oligonucleotide therapeutics (ribozymes). His doctoral and post-doctoral research was conducted with Nobel Prize Laureate Dr. Stanley Prusiner (prions, University of California San Francisco / George Washington University) and with Dr. Sidney Altman (ribozymes, Nobel Laureate in Chemistry 1989). He holds four patents in the use of ribozymes. At Innovir Laboratories (1990 to 1993) he led major research initiatives into oligonucleotide therapeutics (ribozymes) against infectious diseases and cancer, specifically HBV and leukemia, as the second scientist to join the company.
Dr. Bockman’s primary professional contribution to clinical trial processes is as a commercial and strategic advisor on drug development programs for oncology and virology assets, rather than as a clinical PI.
